Aarhus
Aarhus is Denmark's second largest and Jutland's largest urban area. You can quickly get from one
end of the city to the other, and yet you find all kinds of opportunities in Aarhus.

Aarhus has a large variety of cafés, restaurants and shops. A great place to get something to eat or
just look at the city life is the Latin Quarter. The Latin Quarter is the oldest part of the city center
and a cozy place. Along the cobbled streets are several shops and restaurants.

Aarhus is a port city surrounded by old beech forests - so there is always sea or nature within
walking distance. There is easy access to bike trails, running trails, and outdoor training
equipment. In the summer, there is a good opportunity to take a swim in the Bay of Aarhus both
at the harbor bath, at Ballehage beach and at Den Permanente. Aarhus is a university city and is
thus a vibrant city with a large population of young people. Aarhus has many good schools and
childcare facilities.

Aarhus figure skating club
1.0. Mission
At Aarhus Skating Club (ASK), it is our mission to be a club for all members, regardless of level and
age.

2.0. Vision
Our mission is embedded in the following visions:
  • We want a strong community where helpfulness, good friendship and security are core values.
  • Our training must be based on current training principles for children and young people
  • We want to support the line laid out by Danish Skating Union
  • We want the person to be the focus of our training, therefore it is important that our coaches are aware of the well-being of the skaters on and off the ice

3.0. Values
ASK's mission and vision form the basis of the values below. The values form the framework for
our training and social environment at the rink.

3.1. Training
Skating and training in Aarhus Skating Club should be fun. The training may be targeted and
challenging but should not be at the expense of the joy and play of skating. There must be room
for mistakes as skaters develop through them and learn adversity and prosperity. We therefore
not only focus on results, but also highly on development and learning. We would like for our
runners to look forward to be at the rink and to thrive in their training.

3.2. Coaches
We wish for the whole person to be the focus in our training environments. Therefore, we want to
hire and recruit coaches who are not only passionate about skating, but just as much about
working with people. We see it as a necessity that our coaches are continuously trained and kept
up to date with to the extent that the club can financially manage. We wish to maintain our
coaches and their runners' commitment to the club, by regularly having conversations with the
coaches.

3.3. Social environment and volunteerism
Our members should look forward to go to the rink and should be thriving in their training. There
is also a life outside the ice rink, so it is important that there is also space for school, friends and
leisure to create skaters who are whole people. In addition, we wish to be known for a good,
positive tone and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. This is supported by arranging social events and
the involvement of members and parents in voluntary work. Our club is based on volunteering.
Without volunteers, there would not be a club and there is always room for helping hands.
